great little fan. the variable speed dial goes from 1-5 but it only ranged between 1 and 2.5 (meaning it maxes out at top speed at 2.5 and then is the same max speed from 2.5-5. it's really not an issue as it has variable control from off to max, it just ranged on the lower half of the dial. I assume this variable speed dial is made to regulate a higher load/motor. Not a complaint at all, just knowledge. the fan is powerful enough to pull the fumes from my soldering station.
Perfect for the use it has to do aspires as much as I need, I think I'll take another one to enhance the aspiration.
Powerful suction, as already mentioned by others. Direction of air flow is from grill (front) to back. There are 4 screws on both sides of the motor, so you can switch around the direction to place the motor at the end of tube.
